Awkwafina
American musician and actor Awkwafina made her debut with humorous rap tracks that tackled sexuality and racial identities with a the most outrageous comedy perspective prior to expanding her repertoire to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants in Forest Hills Queens. Her initial exposure to music stemmed from the trumpet. Classical, jazz and hip-hop education began when she was a teenager. While in college, she took classes in Women's Studies and Journalism. It was also during this time that she spent an hour studying Mandarin during her time in Beijing. The focus on music until after she graduated. The song My Vag, a response song to Mickey Avalon's My Dick gained viral popularity through the Internet in 2012. The track was later included in her first album Yellow Ranger released in 2014. Other viral hits included the queef, a body positive song and the winking NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. This track was also used in the Awkwafina's NYC travel guide, published in the year 2015. With musician and author on her resume she set her sights on an actor for a third venture. Her film credits include films such as Neighbors 2, Storks and Bad Rap. In 2018, she scored breakthrough roles in a handful of famous films such as Dude Ocean's 8, and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP debuted in June.
